WARDOGS Beginner Guide — Your First Match

Season 1 Early Access (build 0.11)

WARDOGS' shooting will feel familiar. What won't: 100 players, three factions, a 2×2 km Control Zone that moves every match, and an economy where your gear dies with you but your cash doesn't. This guide is the shortest safe path from first spawn to useful teammate.

How a Match Actually Works

  1. Up to 100 players split across three factions — LONESTAR, VALKYRA, MANTICORE.
  2. Each match, a randomized Control Zone lands somewhere on the 256 km² map. First faction to 100 points wins.
  3. Points come from living players inside the zone. Inside the Hot Zone, you count double.
  4. Towers let your faction steer the Hot Zone with a four-digit code.
  5. Death sends you to the safe zone — no timer, travel is the penalty — and the kit you carried is gone.

Your First $10,000

Do not spend it all. The $10,000 is your entire bankroll until you earn more, and it does not refill on death.

First Ten Minutes Checklist

Four WARDOGS soldiers advancing through smoke on a rubble-strewn road with spacing between them
Cover-to-cover with spacing: one grenade should never remove the whole group.
  1. Check the objective and distance before leaving base.
  2. Use team transport — never cross open ground alone on foot.
  3. Move cover-to-cover with spacing; one grenade shouldn't remove the whole group.
  4. Do useful work: hold the zone, spot threats, revive when safe, resupply, transport. Support pays real cash (see the money guide).
  5. When you die — you will — note why: route, range, missing utility, empty ammo, bad timing. Change exactly one thing next life.

Zone, Towers, FOBs, Drills — the Vocabulary

Knowing whether the squad is hitting a tower, reinforcing a FOB or guarding a drill is the fastest way to be useful before you've learned a single recoil pattern.

FAQ

Should I spend the whole first $10,000?
No. Keep a reserve so one early mistake doesn't bankrupt your second life.
Are there fixed classes?
No hero-style classes — your role is what you buy. Equipment and XP tracks make specialization meaningful without locking you in.
Is support play actually worth it?
Yes — revives, transport, logistics and objective work all feed both team progress and your wallet, by design.
Solo or squad?
Squad, always. If solo, use proximity voice at spawn to find an organized group and fill a role — see playing with friends.
