WARDOGS System Requirements
Official Steam requirements · Early Access performance targets may move between builds
100 players, vehicles, construction and destruction in one simulation — WARDOGS is heavier than its price suggests. These are the official BULKHEAD targets, plus the caveats that actually matter when you're deciding whether your machine can run it.
Official Requirements
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Target experience | 1080p Low · 60 fps (with upscaling) | 1440p Medium · 70+ fps native, or 4K Medium 60+ fps with upscaling |
| GPU class | GTX 1660 / RX 590 | RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT |
| Memory | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 50 GB available | 50 GB available |
| Platform | Windows PC (Steam) | Windows PC (Steam) |
There's no macOS or Linux version; Steam Deck is not an officially supported target. Consoles are announced for 2028.
The Caveats That Matter
- The minimum is a floor, not a promise. Big objective fights stress CPU, GPU, network and streaming at once. A machine that idles at 70 fps can still hitch when three factions collide — benchmark in a populated Control Zone.
- Potato Mode is real but not magic. BULKHEAD's performance devlog ships an official low-end mode (and an "Overkill" high mode) with a 60+ fps development target — hardware and scene load still decide your number.
- Laptop cards run a tier lower. A laptop 3060 performs nearer a desktop 3050; apply that discount before comparing to the table.
- VRAM matters for textures. Texture quality leans on memory more than raw GPU speed — a 16 GB-card-at-1080p setup can still load high textures fine.
For what to change in the menus once the game runs, see the best settings guide — competitive priorities, the diagnostic table for CPU vs GPU vs network, and what Potato/Overkill modes actually do.
FAQ
- Can a GTX 1660 run WARDOGS?
- Yes — official minimum card, targeting 1080p Low at 60 fps with upscaling. Judge it in crowded fights, not at spawn.
- How much RAM do I need?
- 16 GB on both tiers, plus 50 GB storage.
- Is an RTX 3070 overkill?
- No — it's the recommended class for 1440p Medium at 70+ fps. "Overkill Mode" (the visual preset) is a separate question; the settings guide covers it.
- Does WARDOGS support Steam Deck or Linux?
- Not officially — Windows PC via Steam only for now.
